Stress

How stress affects your body

It’s no secret that everyday our lives are getting busier and that we experience multiple forms of stress each day. Whether it is physical stress, emotional stress or chemical stress, it makes no difference as to the negative effects that stress has our lives. Typically, stress can lead to other problems, which then also turns into further stress down the line. While stress may feel predominantly mental for some people, it is also more than likely to have a long-term physical effect on them as well.

Under stress the spinal vertebrae can become misaligned, causing havoc within your nervous system and interfering with the healthy communication between the brain and body. In the chiropractic world, these spinal misalignments are called subluxations. These disruptions to your core will result in a form of body dysfunction, no matter how slight. And with stress being so varied in its attack on the body it is often hard to pinpoint where the problem area is. It could be the body’s organs, tissues or cells that are affected and if left untreated could lead to long-term damage.

What can a chiropractor do?

Our chiropractors are well trained in how to go about relieving stress from our patient’s bodies and there is no better way to do so than with a chiropractic adjustment. If the spine is healthy and correctly aligned, the central nervous system is able to function properly. This includes functions like protecting the spinal cord, providing the body with stability, movement and a good posture.

A chiropractic adjustment will remove interference from around your spin and nerve system, which gives your body the opportunity to heal in the correct way and there is nothing better than hearing those sounds your body makes when everything is put back into place. Our soft massaging techniques can also ensure that any tight muscles in your body are worked out and you leave your treatment feeling loose and stress free.

The success of treatments will depend on the individual and the techniques being used by our chiropractic professionals. Success is also linked to how long the patient has experienced the symptoms, the amount of stress occurring in the patient and on what type of pain the patient is experiencing. It may not be possible to eliminate stress from your life, but a visit to your chiropractic may help you along the way.
